Vice Chair Andrea Bailey Applauds Passage of FY2026 Budget: "A Budget Focused on Community Investment and Progress.
Prince William County, VA - Following the Board of County Supervisors' approval of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget, Vice Chair Andrea Bailey (Potomac District) released the following statement:
"The budget we passed reflects the values and aspirations of Prince William County residents. It represents our shared commitment to building a safer, healthier, and more inclusive community -- while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
I am proud that this year's budget brings critical investment to the Potomac District and across the county in areas that matter most: public safety, education, mental health, housing , and mobility. From rebuilding our fire and rescue infrastructure to expanding Fuller heights Park and moving forward with the Crisis Receiving Center and Homeless navigation Center-East, we are making bold, intentional moves to serve families and the most vulnerable among us."
The real estate tax rate is being reduced to $0.906 per $100 of assessed value, while investments are increasing to support essential services. Through careful stewardship, we've also reduced the personal property tax on vehicles and cut the meals tax to 3%, all while increasing our overall general revenues by nearly 9%.
I am especially proud of our continued historic investment in education, with nearly $1 billion allocated to our public schools. That is a direct investment in our children's future and the long-term success of our county.
This budget also addresses core public safety needs by funding 20 new police officers, 30 fire and rescue positions, and supporting the resiliency of our emergency personnel. At the same time, we're tackling housing insecurity, funding key mental health services, expanding library programs, and supporting our seniors.
As Vice Chair, I am committed to ensuring that every budget we pass reflects our community's voice, meets the needs of our families, and prepares Prince William County for a resilient and equitable future. I thank my colleagues, and staff, and constituents for their partnership in getting us here."
The FY2026 budget takes effect July 1, 2025.
